Hi Film Makers!

Welcome to your first video tutorial. Whilst we love hanging out with you all in our weekly sessions, we know some technical aspects of editing can be tricky to grasp. We have created these tutorials so you can go at your own pace and repeat different elements as many times as you need.  If you get stuck, don’t worry, just bring your questions to our next session and we will gladly help you out.  Remember, if you are struggling then it is likely that someone else is too, so asking questions can help everyone grow.

For all you Apple users out there

If you are an Apple user then please check out “Lumafusion”.  Lumafusion is a professional set up that is easy to use and has a very friendly one off price of approx £28.  Using Lumafusion will set you up for life as updates are made regularly and you will be making yourself familiar with a popular industry choice.

For Android and PC Users

If you are an Android or PC user then we have selected the next best thing in “Kinemaster”.  This software has many similarities to Lumafusion and is currently the best out there for non Apple users.  The App will cost approx £3 a month or £18.50 per Year. It offers many of the same options as Lumafusion. 

During the course you will be shown how to make an advert for a zoo. If you want to focus on learning the technical side of editing then please feel free to download the footage, music and graphics (we call these “assets”) from the dropbox link. This is a great way for you to practise your new editing skills before jumping in with a new creation. Again, any problems and we can solve them together in our next session. 

If (or when) you are confident with your editing skills then jump into your first original piece.  For your first attempt flying solo you can make life easy for yourself by:

• Making sure you don’t create too much footage to edit

• Keep the story simple

• Keep your edit short (2 minutes is plenty!)

Make sure you email your film across to us so we can share your masterpiece with the rest of the group. There is lots to take in but the skills you learn will take you on an amazing adventure. Just remember, the best creativity always comes through play- so have fun folks!

The Assets can be downloaded to your device from the Dropbox folder by clicking on each piece and saving to your Camera Roll.
